ABSTRACT
In introducing intellectual property rights to students, a number of courses begin with a question requiring a student to identify the different varieties of right which exist and the major distinctions between them. Question 1 is a typical example of such a question, requiring the student to clarify the different categories of intellectual property rights that may subsist in a single item and outline the distinctions between them.
