ABSTRACT

An action in conversion, being an action in tort, must be brought within six years from the date the cause of action accrued (s 2). The owner’s title in the converted goods is extinguished if the goods are not recovered within the time limit for bringing an action (s 3(2)). If goods are converted and, before the owner recovers possession, a further action of conversion takes place, the limitation period of six years runs from the date of the original conversion (s 3(1)).
