ABSTRACT

Where there are a number of either claimants or defendants whose claims or defences give rise to common or related issues of law or fact, but who do not have the same interest in an action, such as in the case of product liability relating to a particular drug, a group litigation order may be made so that all the different cases can be managed together. This type of order will be appropriate where there are a substantial number of such claimants or defendants (Section III of Part 19 of the CPR should be consulted for details).
