ABSTRACT
Simple head injuries are common in A and E department practice, but complicated ones which are treatable occur only rarely. The important thing for the A and E department doctor is to identify the patients who are at risk, admit and observe them, and ensure that they are expeditiously referred to a neurosciences centre for definitive treatment should complications arise.
