ABSTRACT
In general the follow up of patients in an A and E department is limited to the management of problems which are felt to be outside the scope of general practice, yet not serious enough to need specialist referral. For instance, the on-going treatment of many wounds can be more than adequately dealt with by the GP, who can supervise the healing of the wound and arrange for the removal of sutures.
