ABSTRACT

On 1 January 1995, the Public Advertising of Medicines Code and the Health Products Promotion Code came into force. The former sets out the relevant provisions of the Medicines Advertising Decree. This decree is the implementation of the EC Directives on the advertising of medicinal products for human consumption. The Health Products Promotion Code is the implementation of Arts 19 and 20 of the Commodities Act. These articles stipulate that it may not be claimed or suggested that certain commodities have properties that prevent, treat or cure diseases.
