ABSTRACT
Intermittently over the past twenty years, there have been bursts of creative energy and enthusiasm aimed at the development of an American Indian theater. There have been so many problems, however, that some of the few brave souls who struggled for that goal have given up, exhausted by frustration and a failure of nerve.
