ABSTRACT

Anthony R.Welch works in the Faculty of Education at the University of Sydney, Australia, and has published widely on international policies and practices in education, as well as nonmethodological issues in comparative research. Much of his current work is devoted to international issues in higher education, and the academic profession. His most recent books include his 1996 Australian Education: Reform or Crisis? (published as Class Culture and the State in Australian Education, by Peter Lang in 1997), and Tradition, Modernity and Postmodernity in Comparative Education (with V.Masemann), published by Kluwer in 1997. He is currently completing a book on the impact of structural adjustment programs on education in Asia, and another book on the academic profession.
