ABSTRACT
The larynx guards the upper airway and produces the voice. It communicates above with the oropharynx, and below it is continuous with the trachea. It has a skeleton consisting of the thyroid cartilage and the cricoid cartilage. Above, it is suspended from the hyoid bone by the thyrohyoid muscle (Figure 77).
