ABSTRACT
Like the submandibular glands, the paired parotid glands are vulnerable to stone formation, inflammatory disorders and tumours. Most of the tumours are benign, but the course of the facial nerve through the gland (Chapter 48the major salivary glands) renders all surgery on it delicate and hazardous.
