ABSTRACT
The head and neck is supplied by a large series of nerves. The most important of these are the 12 so-called cranial nerves which derive directly from the brain and brain stem. These supply the entire head and face with the exception of small areas of skin around the ears which have migrated upward during prenatal life from the neck. The neck itself, its skin and its muscles, is supplied by nerves derived from the spinal cord in its cervical part.
