ABSTRACT
Otitis externa is a condition characterised by inflammation of the ear canal. It is a common ailment varying in severity. Severe cases may be intensely painful. There is a life-threatening variant (malignant otitis externa-see below) which occurs in elderly diabetic patients and others who are immunologically compromised.
