There are a number of these, which will not be described in exhaustive detail. The pattern of inheritance varies according to the mode of transmission. This may be sex linked (where the gene is linked to one of the sex chromosomes, normally the X-chromosome) or autosomal (where the gene is linked to one of the remaining chromosomes which does not control gender). The inheritance may be dominant or recessive.
