ABSTRACT
There is undoubtedly some degree of viral infection of the paranasal sinuses in most severe head colds, but the sinusitis which is of medical importance is due to bacterial infection. Sinusitis may be acute or chronic. Acute sinusitis is usually effectively treated with antibiotics. The development of chronic sinusitis generally requires surgical intervention.
