ABSTRACT
Septal perforation-the development of a persisting hole in the nasal septummay follow trauma, cautery or surgery. In some individuals it is self-inflicted, and results from habitual nose-picking. A very few cases result from granulomatous destruction (Chapter 42) or from tuberculosis (see infective rhinitis, Chapter 35).
