ABSTRACT
The autoimmune diseases are conditions in which the body’s immune system loses its ability to recognise its own cells and becomes active against them, causing damage to them. The conditions are generally dealt with by rheumatologists, the condition of rheumatoid arthritis being the commonest and best known autoimmune disease.
