ABSTRACT

Painless haematuria can be the presenting feature of carcinoma of the bladder, kidney or ureter, and is a symptom that always warrants careful and complete investigation and serious consideration.

Haematuria may be the first and only evidence of a potentially lethal condition. In the majority of cases, however, it will be due to inflammatory disease, trauma, calculi or neoplasia of the kidney or bladder.
