ABSTRACT

In summary, this study shows evidence for a l ink between some cognitive abi l i - ties, both verbal and nonverbal, and relative hand sk i l l , with increasing abilities wi th increasing dextrality in young children. The present findings suggest that measures o f hand dexterity are a better way o f studying relations between laterality and cognitive abilities than simple demonstration tasks or questionnaires o f lateral preferences, in accordance with Annett (1985).
