ABSTRACT
The lung responds to injury in a limited number of ways. One common end result from lung injury is pulmonary fibrosis (shrinking and scarring). Patients with lung fibrosis present to their doctors with a dry cough and progressive shortness of breath – initially on exertion and then later at rest.
