Blood tests are often performed to try to identify the cause: • serum precipitins should be sought to specific antigens (see figure 12.2).
The presence of these precipitins is not diagnostic in that they may occur in some asymptomatic individuals who have merely been exposed;
• blood eosinophilia – does not occur.
