Reversing Deculturalization for Better or for Worse: Teaching Hawaiian Culture in Public Schools

Indigenous researchers such as Smith (2001) and Thaman (2004) have challenged non-indigenous researchers to interrogate their own means and motives. They raise ethical concerns and questions of cultural appropriateness that should be central to the work of all researchers who move across cultural borders to do their work.
