ABSTRACT
The contributors to this volume have examined the phenomenological consequences of the diverse social forces that are increasingly converging on the human body. These processes can be very different from one another in their origin and intention, but share the same focus: the human body. As our authors have detailed, these forces can be seen as being driven strongly by progress in technology and the resulting advances in the ways and means of communication.
