ABSTRACT

The Contemporized-Themes Concerning Blacks Test (C-TCB) is a culturally specific projective measure that reflects social, intrapersonal, and interpersonal situations commonly experienced in the African-American community (Hoy, 1997). The test consists of 27 chromatic cards that depict several themes including single parenting, kinship and extended family, individual motivation/autonomy, teenage pregnancy, media portrayal of Blacks or African Americans, institutionalized racism, substance abuse, and implications of HIV/AIDS. The administrator selects the cards for administration. Thematic content of each card is assessed by rating eight personality traits and nine affective states. Each personality trait is rated based on a five-point scale, and the affective states are rated on a four-point scale.
