ABSTRACT

Design studies respond to the need to study complex interventions that include a range of intentionally designed features and materials such as curriculum sequences, technological tools, social norms, in structional approaches, activity structures, and cognitive assessments in complex settings. Design studies capture the iterative exploration and refinement of these educational elements in the varied places where learning occurs. This research tradition also allows for the ap propriation and customization of such materials and approaches by specific learning communities.
