ABSTRACT
The two primitive motivations of pain and hunger can be regarded as mainly determined by specific bodily conditions-tissue damage and lack of nourishment-although, as we saw in the preceding chapter, neither of these relationships is simple and neither is as yet really understood. Hunger, particularly, must be a very complex process.
