ABSTRACT
The Reading Academy changed my life. That is a powerful and passionate statement-one that could sound exaggerated, brash, and melodramatic. Yet it is true, and let me tell you why: I went from a novice teacher to a state-certified Master Reading Teacher in 3 years; I love my job; and, most important, I am confident that I effectively teach the students with whom I interact. The Reading Academy enabled me to be the teacher I am today. In this chapter, I share my background, my experience in the Reading Academy, and my reflections on that experience.
