Medium of Instruction in Hong Kong: One Country, Two Systems, Whose Language?

Hong Kong was under British colonial rule for more than 150 years, having been colonized by the British in 1842 as a result of the Opium War. In 1997, after a lengthy negotiation with the British Government that began in 1984, China resumed its sovereignty over Hong Kong, and on 1st of July, Hong Kong became a Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China.
