Physiological processes allow, subserve, and accompany all gross and subtle contents and expressions of life, from behaving to emoting and to thinking. The wide-spread autonomic and somatomotor responses during emotions are an obvious clue that emotions possess organismic and behavioral functions. But which functions do emotions serve?
