ABSTRACT

The starting and end point for my response to these essays is my own teaching. I begin with the understanding that these highly provocative and instructive essays are not so much about technology as they are pedagogy. New technologies have prompted me to reimagine my teaching, as they have the authors of this volume. So as I read these chapters, I look at them through the lens of my own experience and think about what might apply to my own classroom. The power of a book like this is that it helps create communities of teachers across disciplines dedicated to figuring out how to better promote student agency in learning, sharing, and knowledge building.
