ABSTRACT

Creating solid scientific research and theory that could contribute to solving important social problems was the cornerstone of Stuart W.Cook’s professional and personal life. Cook’s research and writings on prejudice have served as an inspiration to several generations of graduate students and colleagues. His seminal work was recognized in a series of awards from the American Psychological Association (APA), the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues (SPSSI), and other organizations. In this chapter I will try to describe the work and the life values of the man who merited these honors.
