ABSTRACT
The term standard has been used in multiple contexts in K-12 education. States often refer to the content that all students are expected to learn as the standards for designated subject matter at a particular grade level. The term standard can also refer to the point on a continuum of test scores that determines the classification of student performance (e.g., passing the graduation test). In addition, state tests are subject to evaluation by professional standards for test development and use.
