ABSTRACT

Employment interviews are the most common employee selection procedure. An applicant may receive numerous interviews with a single employer. The interview provides a setting for the exchange of information between applicant and employer on which evaluation and decisions are reached. Although the face-to-face interview is probably most common, other alternatives are certainly gaining popularity (video based, telephone, etc.). Because of the importance and frequency of employment interviews, a great deal of research has been conducted on the accuracy of interviewer judgments of applicants and the process through which interviewers reach decisions about applicants. More recently, there has been an increasing interest in applicant reactions to employment interviews and other aspects of employee recruitment.
