ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on concepts discussed in this book. Rachel Griffin had a laptop computer she began bringing to meetings during her first year on the Network Faculty Development Committee (NFDC). She took careful notes over the course of the next two years of the committee. Many said they had joined the NFDC because they wanted to be able to plan and lead Institutes. The regional institutes are a good example. Because the NFDC was not directly involved in these later institutes, Fran Curva suggested other initiatives the NFDC might take. Catherine surrendered her leadership position, but continued working within the group as a member. During the two years we collaborated in leading the group and then far beyond the two years, people were intensely reflective about NFDC processes, vision, and projects, partially because of the insider-outsider research project to which everyone had committed, but mostly because of temperament and intellectual friendship.
