ABSTRACT

Human beings dwell in their own world. Sometimes the places where they live are given the meaning of a home. Homes are not only certain physical locations but also symbolize the matching of the concrete and abstract arenas of their lives (Kelly, 1975). Interviews with healthy people aged between 2 and 102 years have shown that the essence of feeling at home is a feeling of being connected to significant others, significant things, significant places, significant activities, oneself, and transcendence (Zingmark, Norberg, & Sandman, 1995). During various phases of life, a person is given a home, creates a home, shares a home, and offers a home. It is important to be welcomed into a home (Marcel, 1982).
