ABSTRACT

Sumru Erkut is a senior research scientist and associate director of the Center for Research on Women at Wellesley College where her work focuses on adolescent development, the protective effects of sports on girls’ development, gender equity, and racial and ethnic diversity. She is a co-director of the project on Raising Confident and Competent Girls. Her newest project is a federally funded study of young Puerto Rican fathers. Dr. Erkut consults to corporations, educational institutions, and social service agencies on issues of gender equity and racial/ethnic diversity.
