ABSTRACT
In this chapter, it is shown how a body of word problems can be generated on the basis of “problem grammars”, how an efficient and unique coding of the problems by “components” can be performed, and how the derivation of problem structures is facilitated through formal principles working on structures of problem components. Furthermore it is demonstrated how the influence of textual properties of word problems on solution performance can be considered in the process of structuring the body of problems.
