ABSTRACT

In order to test the rules for arriving at total protocol ratings (TPRs), Hy and Bobbitt (1991) assembled a group of 13 subsamples that had been tested using the old SCT Form (Form 11-68). The pooled sample for Study 1 comprised 502 male and 526 female participants, ranging from school-aged to middle-aged, with many college students, and with other subjects drawn from varied sources. For the pooled sample, E-levels ranged from E-2 (n=18) to E-9 (n=14), with most cases at E-5 and E-6, as is usually the case for college students. All of the protocols had been assigned a final TPR by consensus of experienced raters. Those final TPRs constituted the criterion for testing the rules for going from item ratings to TPRs.
