ABSTRACT

In fall 2005, Education Services staff of the Scott Memorial Library at Thomas Jefferson University located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, were invited to teach “tool box” classes as part of the curriculum for “GC550 Foundations in Biomedical Sciences.” GC550 is an entrylevel course for PhD candidates in the College of Graduate Studies. Teaching this course allowed medical librarians and instructional designers to develop hands-on exercises in database searching, literature evaluation, bibliographic management software, and presentation skills and software. This chapter will outline the objectives, methods, results, and conclusions in preparing an advanced information literacy curriculum for biomedical graduate students.
