ABSTRACT

I woke up to the sound of the alarm. Jen was already in the bathroom putting on her makeup. She always woke up earlier than me, especially on vacations. I opened the curtains and saw an outline of trees from the window. I thought about yesterday and how we walked to Stanley Park and stopped at Lost Lagoon. We leaned over the railing and watched the ducks. One duck kept diving under the water then resurfacing a couple of feet away from where it started. As we watched it, we talked about getting married and how it would be legal here; how we could feel secure about our certificate instead of worrying about some religious freaks trying to make another amendment.
