ABSTRACT

World-wide there is evidently massive interest in the use of peer tutoring within education systems. An Internet search using the words ‘peer tutoring’ on the Altavista search engine recently resulted in 361,329 matches. A brief sample of the websites revealed entries from a huge number of countries. Similarly, academic library searches uncover a host of research programmes testifying to the efficacy of peer tutoring and to a wide variety of applications in primary, secondary and higher education, in business and commerce and in all the professions.
