ABSTRACT

This section of the book is designed to document and describe a range of processes and practices that are currently being explored in self-study. This section is in an attempt to illustrate how self-study can, and should be, an integral aspect of the work of teacher educators. The value of self-study in teacher education practice may appear to those working in the field to be selfevident. However, it is important to be able to demonstrate this through the articulation and dissemination of individuals’ inquiry and research so that the approaches to learning and understanding through self-study might be open to the scrutiny of others. In so doing, this can help to demonstrate the importance of the relationship between learning about one’s practice and the teaching about practice with our students of teaching.
