ABSTRACT

Given the richness of the Catholic intellectual tradition, one would expect that there would be a vibrant community of Catholic scholars engaged in lively philosophical inquiry and debate about such a vision. Certainly, there is a deep concern among Catholic educational leaders and scholars which has resulted in excellent individual monographs and presentations. But there is no community of Catholic intellectuals pursuing a coherent agenda of inquiry to serve as a significant resource for educational leaders who are grappling with the formulation of a sacred vision for education in a secular, pluralistic society.
