ABSTRACT

Hello readers! Laurie and Phil here. We are about to talk to you in a non-traditional manner. Or, rather, we have just started talking to you in a way unusual for an academic article. We are talking about three complex and interrelated things: reflection, validity, and meaning. We talk directly to you and we talk to each other, in distinctive sections of this chapter. Right now we are talking to you. Later on you can watch us talk to each other. This format helps us show things that are otherwise hard to talk about. We hope you will be open to reading a chapter that breaks academic norms.1
