ABSTRACT
Perhaps the biggest change of all is when a new headteacher is appointed. In both our case study schools there has been much emphasis on curriculum development since the heads were appointed. The balance is to: decide what needs immediate attention, for example, health
and safety and the attitude to teaching and learning; decide which strengths to build on, ensuring that others are
not lost; decide what developments can be longer-term issues.
