ABSTRACT

Gendered dualistic thinking is the association of certain epistemological or psychological dualities-such as mind and body, Reason and emotion, and objectivity and subjectivity-with maleness or masculinity and femaleness or femininity respectively. The syntactical placement suggests a hierarchy of conditions, in what comes first-maleness, mind, Reason, objectivity-is superior to what comes second-femaleness, body, emotion, subjectivity. Within the western epistemic tradition the first set of conditions has long been thought to give rise to Truth; the second never has.
