ABSTRACT

As planned, in July 1993, about fifty people (thirty PhDs and twenty staff) came together for a week in a small conference centre in the Netherlands. In August 1994, about sixty-five people (forty-five PhDs and twenty staff) came together in Greece. For both meetings, an application for EEC-Erasmus funding was sent in by the participating institutions. However, only the second time was the bid successful. Since then, two experimental summer schools have taken place and we may now ask ourselves what we have learned, and whether the undertaking has been worthwhile and should be continued.
