ABSTRACT
Educational researchers share working styles with detectives or anglers when they unravel secrets in the deep darkness. Success often requires years of exploration. According to the viability of their terrain, they need to invent adequate designs and methods, ‘sign posts’ and valid theories about where to enter the unknown; some of them may wait for results over a long time while others find the unexpected quite soon.
