ABSTRACT
In the history of English further education-if such a thing exists-the academic year 1992-93 will be noteworthy for two major changes, the incorporation of FE and sixth form colleges and the introduction of General National Vocational Qualifications to the post-16 curriculum. Colleges had no choice about their incorporation, but no college was forced to become a first phase or pilot institution for the introduction of GNVQ.
