ABSTRACT

Essential to the design and development of reusable educational software or learning objects is ensuring they are accessible to all. This chapter explores how one can accommodate students with disabilities within a learner-centred approach; the architecture and authoring tools needed to create learning objects that transform to meet the needs of the learner; the importance of harmonized standards for promoting accessible content in repositories; and practical planning steps when implementing a commitment to accessible electronic learning.
