ABSTRACT
There are several ways in which we might think of learning as a social, as well as an individual activity, and it is important at the beginning of this chapter to remember that learning is characterized by both these dimensions. At the outset then, we might consider three ways of thinking about this social dimension:
• the social relations of learning; • the social purposes of learning; • the social construction of learning.
